What to Expect on Your First Day at Last Chance Grappling Club

Welcome to your first day at Last Chance Grappling Club! We’re excited to have you join us and want to make sure you feel comfortable and prepared. Here’s what to expect and how to dress for both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes:

What To Expect

When You Arrive: At Last Chance Grappling Club, we want to make sure your experience is both smooth and welcoming from the moment you arrive. Our gym has a secure access keypad at the main entrance. During weekdays, from 8am to 5pm (Monday through Friday), the door is unlocked and no code is needed. Since many of our classes take place outside of those hours, all members will receive a personal access code for easy entry.

If you're visiting us or haven't signed up yet, no worries! Just reach out to us at lastchancegrappling@gmail.com, and we'll gladly make sure you have everything you need to get in and enjoy your time with us. We look forward to seeing you on the mats!

Gi Class: For a gi class, you’ll need to wear a traditional BJJ gi (also known as a kimono). The gi consists of a jacket, pants, and a belt that represents your rank. If you don’t have a gi yet, don’t worry! We often have extras available for new students or you can rent one from the club. Make sure to wear a clean, well-fitting gi to ensure safety and comfort. A rash guard or tight-fitting shirt underneath is optional but recommended to prevent skin irritation. Please remove any jewelry and trim your nails to avoid injury during class.

No-Gi Class: For no-gi, the attire is simpler but still important for performance and safety. You’ll want to wear a rash guard or a tight-fitting athletic shirt and a pair of compression shorts or grappling shorts. Avoid loose-fitting clothing, as it can get caught during training. Again, be sure to remove any jewelry and keep nails trimmed.
